Sharon is back in the winner's circle!

Well done to Sharon for winning her Bronze Scratch final against a lower handicap! After a difficult few years of poor form and injuries, her name is back up in lights on the clubhouse boards.

I'm so proud of Sharon for the amazing improvement she had made to her golf this year and looking forward to making more great strides ahead of next season!

Summer Social Fun!

A fantastic afternoon was had by everyone who came along to the Junior Academy Summer Social - a fun afternoon of golf, food and socialising in the sun!

We had a 3 hole scramble with mixed teams of all combinations - juniors, adults, low handicaps, high handicaps and completely new golfers. This was followed by a lovely and well deserved BBQ for players and families - thank you to the F&B team! Then the prizes...

Firstly, we celebrated all the Juniors who have levelled up in various aspects of their MyGame programme this year. Additional congratulations to Felicity Patel, Zach Grewal and Max Spinola, who have completed ALL aspects of level 1 and 2, respectively.

Finally, well done to the winning team on the day, with a brilliant score of level par.... Team Spinola! Well done Max, Evie and Steven 🏆

Birthday boy Milan tops the Junior Order of Merit!

After a great couple of weeks coaching at the Home of Golf, it's good to be back with some familiar faces and hearing about your summer successes!

We kicked off a big month with a Junior Playing Event this week... Well done to Milan, who scored 17 over 3 holes, to win the Playing Event (on countback from Zach Grewal) and take the lead in the Junior Academy Order of Merit! An extra birthday present to go with his new set of irons 😃

Plenty more for the Juniors to look forward to as well, with the Summer Social, Camps, Playing Events and Roll Ups!

Fantastic improvements from Satish ????

Shout out to Satish for making a couple of great improvements to his swing which have had an immediate impact on his ball flight - big slices to baby draws is pretty impressive!

More importantly, this has helped him to score better - breaking 100 for the first time!

Well done Satish, keep up the good work 👏
It was great to hear from Gary Clark who won his Club Championships at Pinner Hill Golf Course this past weekend. Being a player of notable caliber, he's had his eye on this trophy for a while and wants to win it every year.

He was only one shot ahead after 27 holes, but played some unbelievable golf on the back 9 and pulled away from the rest of the field for a convincing victory. "I hit two of the best shots on our 14th yesterday which made it all worthwhile. Thanks for all your tuition and help matey."

He's recently been struggling with a big pull (which a lot of us do!). We worked on some simple adjustments to his setup and grip, which helped him eradicate this miss and give him more confidence to take on the shots needed in every situation.

Congrats Gary, one of many to come! If you have your own specific goal or you're looking to eradicate your own miss, book yourself in for a lesson. We love seeing our students become more confident and achieve their goals!

What a week for Aaron!

https://customer-ckczcnmyzakbkjz6.cloudflarestream.com/e37c1039ecc8456b8e327d89cdf5e746/thumbnails/thumbnail.jpg

Congratulations to Aaron on a great week of golf! After achieving an official handicap, he hit his longest ever drive (221 yards) and made his first par on a par 5!

Well done Aaron, I'm excited to see what other milestones the summer brings!

Well done Andrew Newton on a fantastic round last week! For the first time ever, Andy hit a par 5 green in 2 shots...and then went and did it again in the same round to set up 2 birdies!

Great playing Andy!

More confidence, more enjoyment!

Great to hear of more improvements and enjoyable rounds this past week...

Well done to Ravi who, after a couple upgrades to his pitching, went on to impress his friends on the course with a super sharp short game!
Time is running out to make this Father's Day extra special. Whether he's a full-time fanatic or just starting out, a Gift Card is perfect for celebrating him and everything his love for the game (especially with him most likely being glued to the TV watching the US Open this weekend!).

Remember that he can use these Gift Cards for any lessons or programmes he wants! Get yours today!

Congrats Kyle!

Kyle has made some big improvements to his putting over the last few weeks which helped him shoot a fantastic level par round. In fact, he only had 28 putts, breaking 30 for the first time ever!

Never underestimate the importance of putting - it contributes 30-50% of your total strokes! If you need help stopping those 3 putts, then please get in touch.

I’ll be spending a couple of weeks coaching in St Andrews again this summer so will be away from the Academy between 15th-29th July.

If you’d like to get booked in for a session, I have a few spaces remaining before I go. Or, have a look at my diary and get booked in for August:

Half Term Junior Fun!

We had a fun filled half term with the Juniors - both the camp and Playing Series Event produced some fantastic golf, lots of laughs and new friendships formed!

We had various challenges running throughout the camp to test driving power, iron accuracy, lob shots, on course skills and teamwork. The winner for the week was Henry Heath!

Congratulations to Teddy who, on his debut, won this month's Playing Event! Emilia is still leading the Order of Merit as we approach the half way point of the season.

Best of luck to Milan, Felicity and Aaron who qualified for the Faldo Series Regional Final, which is being played this weekend at Brocket Hall. Enjoy the day :D

Felicity qualifies for regional finals!

Great to see Batchworth Junior Golf Academy well represented in the Faldo Futures qualifier yesterday!

Aaron, Max, Milan, Thomas and Felicity were all attempting to qualify for the grand final at The Belfry along with hundreds of other juniors. It was a fantastic day and plenty of positives for each of them to take from the experience.

The stand out result of the day was from Felicity, who qualified for the regional finals in the girls age 9-10 category! What an amazing performance - well done Felicity!

Had to share one of Felicity's fantastic drives from the weekend - a blend of power and style! 80 yards of carry with a lovely balanced pose at the end. Brilliant!

Nearly a hole in one for Emilia!

What a fantastic shot by Emilia in this month's Junior Playing Event! From 140 yards on the 11th, her drive hit the flag and finished up 6 feet from the hole. Special mention also goes to her playing partner who was on hand to repair the pitchmark - top etiquette Thomas!

Emilia went on to shoot the lowest score of the day, and a personal best! This means it's all change at the top of the Order of Merit, with our past champion Thomas now in the lead.

Drive of the day from Alice!

https://customer-ckczcnmyzakbkjz6.cloudflarestream.com/ad5ce35fc0464eb39c14062c894a559d/thumbnails/thumbnail.jpg

Shout out to Alice for hitting the drive of the day! This was one of the first times she has used a driver and it flew 160 yards finishing just beside the green...boom!

What a shot by Krishna!

Check out Krishna's awesome shot into the 11th green! From 150 yards, the ball pitched 10 feet short of the pin and rolled up for a 3 foot tap in. This was on the way to shooting the lowest score and claiming the winners' hot chocolate with his partner Charlie - well done boys!

If you’re part of a group of friends shooting scores in the high 80s or early 90s, then you’re all on the edge of a big improvement to your on-course experience. To be shooting those scores, you’re already showing the athletic ability to play this game well.

Don't forget to let us know what matters most to YOU in your personal golfing journey. What matters most to us, is that you have the best experience possible every time you tee it up.

By answering these 6 simple questions, you'll go into the running to win a one-month subscription to our awesome Practice Club.

What works for you?

You don’t need a single par to Break 100. In fact, over 18 holes, carding 9 bogeys and 9 double bogeys gets you to 99. If you’re shooting between 100 and 110, ignoring the par score of every hole is your first step to getting into the 90s.

Congratulations to Lesley Mccann!

It's been an impressive few weeks for Lesley - she has reduced her handicap index by 3 shots and earned a couple of great competition wins!

Lesley wanted to improve her game this year and knew she would need to conquer her fear of hitting irons to do so. Thanks to her hard work and determination, her confidence is growing and she is starting to hit some well struck iron shots onto the green!

Well done Lesley, looking forward to you continuing your fantastic year on the course!

Target achieved!

At the end of last year, Aaron challenged himself to score 21 over 3 holes (and therefore earn a promotion to the 6 hole playing group) by the end of summer 2023. It was extremely exciting to hear that he accomplished it last weekend and has already set himself new targets for the summer and beyond!

Well done Aaron, keep up the good work and let's see what the rest of the year brings!

Check out this amazing shot by Thomas Herring to escape his ‘nemesis’ bunker!

It’s amazing to see how much progress Milan has made since joining the Academy last year - from driving it further to holing more putts and, most importantly, forging friendships with his fellow junior golfers!

My highlight of the season (so far) for Milan is the ‘3 Hole Record’ he scored in our last Junior Tour event. Alongside this, he has achieved the Golden Ball award for honesty, scored his first bogey on a par 4 and beaten his Dad over 9 holes!

Milan approaches all aspects of golf with real enthusiasm and I know that there will be plenty more on the highlights reel at the end of the year, watch this space…

Ishbel is still pretty new to golf, having first picked up a club in March, but has progressed so much and already achieved some fantastic milestones! Using the skills challenges and benchmarks within the Learn to Play programme, we’ve been able to record and measure our students’ improvement, and Ishbel's breakthroughs have been clear to see!

Some highlights include: driving the ball over 100 yards, consistently carrying a 7 iron 50 yards, playing 9 holes and even making her first par! Of course, it’s not all been smooth sailing - 3 out of 100 good shots during one range session (Ishbel’s words not mine!) - but her determination to improve means she is well on the way to becoming a confident golfer in less than 6 months!

The best thing about Ishbel’s journey so far is the friendships she has formed and the community of like-minded golfers she has joined, which is exactly what this game is about. We can't wait to see your progress for the rest of summer and beyond. Keep smiling, Ishbel!

If you'd like to achieve more milestones and become our next Student of the Summer, be sure to book yourself into an assessment today!

Three keys and a challenge

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/jolG1nChYyU/mqdefault.jpg

The best way to set up more scoring opportunities on your approach is to find more fairways from the tee. Other than it being easier to play from the fairway, it’s also so satisfying to walk off the tee and onto the short grass knowing that’s where you’ll stay. We want you to experience that satisfaction more often.

Another golden ball for Vian!

Shout out to Vian for being awarded the golden ball for a second time this month! This week it was awarded to the junior in each class who displayed the best teamwork. Winners from our older classes were Thomas Christian and Charlie Hall - well done boys!

Do you know your numbers?

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/M6RrG_FRx94/mqdefault.jpg
Last week, we spoke about the importance of knowing your best and average yardage for every club in your bag. And when it comes to par 3s, there are three more yardages to consider if you want to make your own luck and hit more greens.

One of Aaron's tendencies is to hit high / heel strikes with his driver which results in a big loss of distance. This week his challenge was to score 20 points from 10 shots - as you can see, he avoided the -5 strike completely and ripped a couple out the middle to complete the challenge in 8 shots!

Not only did this make him very happy, but it also developed his understanding of how his swing patterns, strike and ball flights are related. Great work Aaron, looking forward to some awesome golf this season!

We have lots of opportunities for juniors at the Academy, including our Easter camp next week - perfect for juniors aged 6+ . Please get in touch or book through the link below:

So don't let your kids be a birdie on the couch this Easter - sign them up for our junior golf camp!

Another good week of Junior Academy classes - this week we were focussing on chipping, experimenting with different clubs to understand how different lofts can change flight.

As always there were some great shots, but we had one stand out - a chip in from Felicity! Well done, fantastic work Felicity!

Superb improvements from Arthur!

Arthur has worked hard (and smart) since starting a programme in September. It's not always easy to commit to a long term plan, but he has been patient, trusted the process and is now starting to see the rewards!

Of course, there is far more to golf than hitting 'positions,' but these images are too good not to share. The true evidence is in his ball flight though - stronger, more consistent strikes and a tighter dispersion!

Great work Arthur, can't wait to see you go from strength to strength in 2023!

If you're ready to improve your golf, please get in touch and we can discuss the best way for you to do this.

Junior Christmas Party & Prizegiving

We had a fantastic Christmas Party at Puttshack yesterday, celebrating an awesome year with our juniors! Of course, we’ve had loads of memorable moments during the year, but our overall prizewinners for 2022 are:

Charlotte Kingman - most Golden Ball awards
Grace Gordon - Playing Series runner up
Thomas Christian - Playing Series winner

We’ve got some big plans for next year, including social roll ups and entering the Golfsixes League, so super excited to see the juniors develop. As always, our aim is to spread the fun of golf to as many kids as we can! So, if you'd like to get your kids involved then we'd love to hear from you.

Thank you to all the juniors and parents for making 2022 a great one!

A better swing starts here

A ‘kinetic chain’ of joints and muscles extends from your ankles to shoulders. When that chain is strong, your energy transfer is better, and your swing is more powerful and consistent. But one weak link can cause a breakdown. That’s why mobility matters.

You will no doubt receive a ton of marketing messages today with "unbelievable deals and discounts". This might lead to a lot of needless spending on items that won't necessarily bring lasting satisfaction to your life.

We'd however like to offer you the opportunity to INVEST IN HAPPINESS.

Those unbeatable feelings of watching the ball soar further than ever before or disappearing into the cup from a long-range putt. That feeling of confidence standing over a chip or in the bunker knowing you'll get it out the first time. These are the investments that we'd like to offer you this Black Friday.

If you'd like to invest in your own, or someone else's happiness this festive season, get them a lesson gift card. There are numerous different offers up for grabs and you can even customise your own. Click the button below and make someone's year!

Turn your grimace into a grin

When you think of golf’s scariest shots, what usually comes to mind is the drive on a tight fairway, the approach over a water hazard, the deep greenside bunker and the fairway wood off the deck. But there aren’t any gremlins lying in wait on the green, right?...

Another handicap reduction!

Shout out to Academy graduate, Jacob George, for another fantastic handicap reduction!

After achieving his initial handicap of 17, Jacob has now reduced this to 14... nothing else to be said but 'amazing!'

Now you WILL reach the green

You’ve split the fairway on a long par 4 and the green is in sight, albeit a long way away. You know that when you strike your fairway wood well, it has the distance to get you there. But you don’t strike it well very often...

When Michael came for his first lesson, he was scared to hit his driver, only used his irons and confessed he wasn't really enjoying golf!

Just a couple of months later I was so pleased to see him out on the course and bombing drives down the fairway at will! It’s amazing how much difference a small improvement can do for confidence - it's going to be great to see him enjoying his golf over winter now.

If you’re in need of help please get in touch about the Winter Programmes which will get you enjoying your golf again!

Practice clubs are back!

To help you keep your game as sharp as possible over the winter, I will be running weekly Practice Clubs again! These supervised practice sessions will be structured, but relaxed, ensuring you make the most of your practice time over the winter period.

Is this the greatest benefit of golf?

Families spending time in a peaceful outdoor environment - this photo is the perfect example of what golf can offer!

Lisha was the last of the family to start learning, only picking up a club last summer. Now, she is confident playing 9 holes so it was a pleasure to take her and Louis out on the course together this weekend!

P.S This photo was taken after Louis made a par and then Lisha holed her birdie putt! I’m looking forward to seeing them take on Guang and Max (the other half of the family!)

Highlights of the summer so far!

It’s been an amazing summer full of enthusiastic golfers - we've had lots of new golfers, who are now addicted to the game, and plenty of familiar faces honing their skills. This week we’ve been picking out some of the highlights from our younger golfers...

However, it's been impossible to choose the shot of the summer - there was a 210 yard drive from Ollie, a birdie on the 16th from Anaiya and Emilia and a slam dunk chip in from Jacob! As always, the tasks and challenges were met with loads of enthusiasm and fantastic sportsmanship.

Keep up the great attitude guys!

Go from this to that in 10 quick weeks

A fun-filled 10-week journey that will take you from amateur to aficionado. Under expert guidance, you'll cover everything you need to be able to book a round with your mates on the weekend and show them a thing or two.

As we come to the end of summer term, we’re celebrating the improvement all the juniors have made as well as some stand out highlights of the year so far!

-Thomas Christian is our youngest junior to achieve his level 3 for putting scoring

In the on course Playing Series, Rohan Kotecha and Grace Gordon are tied for the lead in the Order of Merit with 4 events left to play!

'Delighted' Rue does it again!

After her best round ever last month, Rue has gone and scored 44 points around a course she has never played before!

Rue put this down to a combination of improved driving, chipping and bunker play. However, despite scoring so well, she said there is still room for improvement because she blobbed a hole after a 'stupid error in course management!' Love that attitude.

Well done Rue, can't wait to see your handicap to come tumbling down this summer!

Have a great week everyone!

Let's get you up and then down again

The Tour average for greens hit in regulation is just under 70%. For mid-handicap amateurs, it’s about 20%. When you’re hitting one out of five greens, being able to get up and down in two shots (scramble) is essential.

The kids aren't laughing at Andrew now!

When Andrew first came to the Academy, his goal was simple: 'play without embarrassing myself, shoot comfortably under 100 and maybe my kids won't laugh at me so much!' In scoring terms, this meant knocking 10-15 shots off his score.

I am pleased to say that goal has been well and truly eclipsed as Andrew is now consistently shooting in the mid 90s!

It's great to reflect on the last few months and see the incredible progress that Andrew has made. By focussing on specific areas and trusting the process, his hard work is really paying off.

Well done Andrew - breaking 90 here we come!

1 month warning!

What an afternoon for the Junior and Adult Competition!

A fantastic afternoon was had by all involved in the inaugural Junior Adult Competition! The format was 9 holes greensomes stableford - one junior and one adult member. Juniors played an adapted length course and rules where appropriate which ensured that even our youngest juniors could participate!

We had an amazing turn out, so a massive thank you to Club Captain Sean and all the members who helped to make it a memorable experience for the juniors. Well done to all the juniors who played some lovely golf and, more importantly, displayed perfect etiquette! However, we could only have one winning team...Congratulations to Thomas Christian and Matt Parkinson for their impressive score of 23 points!

This event really showed what golf is about and we want to share it with as many people as possible! If you know any juniors who would like to join in any of the Academy classes or events, send me a message:

Trophy win for Alison!

Huge congratulations to Alison for winning her first trophy of the year!

Alison has always been strong in match play and stableford, but a couple of bad holes seemed to spoil the medal rounds. She has worked really hard to
improve her course strategy and keep the big numbers off the card, so it's
amazing to see her shoot under handicap in a big club stroke play event!

The average golfer hits 3 to 6 greens in regulation per round. That means up to 15 holes per round will probably require a wedge shot within 40 yards. That’s why it’s good to get into the habit of regularly playing 9 holes of 40-yard golf.

Teamwork makes the dream work!

Had a great time with the juniors this week for the first half term camp of the year!

As always, lots of improvements were made to their golf, but I was especially impressed at their attitude in the face of storm Dudley. We have just a final couple of spaces remaining for next week. You can sign up via the link below or drop me a message if you have any questions.

“You drive for show, but putt for dough”. Do you though? Bryson DeChambeau (1st on the Fedex cup ranking) is only 38th on the list of strokes gained on the green, but is 1st for the equivalent stat off the tee. And did you know Viktor Hovland (4th on the Fedex list) is 90th on his putting stat but 5th in strokes gained off the tee?

Congratulations to Jasmine Davies!

BIG shout out to Jasmine, who has been offered a sports scholarship at one of the top girls' schools in Hertfordshire - a fantastic achievement!

She was offered the place after being assessed across multiple sports but I'm pretty sure she clinched her place when she told the examiner she wants to be a professional golfer ???? The enthusiasm of our junior golfers is infectious and I can't wait for lots more of it in a couple of weeks as we kick off the return to golf with our Easter camps!

As a coach there is nothing better than seeing golfers hit their goals and I love sharing these successes because 1 - they deserve celebration and 2 - they have the power to inspire others!

P.s. If you need a little help getting back into the swing of things or have your own achievement to share, please let me know!

2 Weeks And Counting

Morning All,
So only 2 weeks now until we can get back on the golf course, Im sure you all can't wait to finally tee it up again. Make sure you're ready for the restart, get those clubs out and give them a good clean, grooves on the club face especially. A little tip also, check the grips, if you think they feel a bit dry give them a good clean with soapy water or even better treat yourself to some new ones, myself or Keith can organise re gripping for you no worries. So stay safe and I will see you all soon.

Following the Government's announcement last night all coaching activities will cease until further notice.

If you have golf lessons booked your coach will contact you to reschedule these to a later date.

A great afternoon with Rue, Priti and Geoff!

Rue, Priti and Geoff came along to the group Playing Assessment this afternoon where we used a special scoring system to benchmark their golf. Not only did this help them gain a better understanding of where their games are currently, but it also highlighted the areas for improvement so they're all really clear on where their focus should be to reach the next level of scoring.

BUT...even better, they loved learning in a group! There was a great supportive atmosphere, celebrating fantastic shots (and encouraging each other to improve the not-so-fantastic shots!)

Membership Update-September 2019

Members September 2019 Update
The Autumn seems underway, cooler morning breezes and hopefully some wonderful night rain. Doug and his team have been working what appears to be around the clock to complete all the standard agronomic works to start getting the course ready for winter golf (sorry to be talking about winter). Next to be undertaken are to start preparing deeper rough areas to be lowered, reconditioning some of the bunker areas, pathway topping and completing the new 150 yard marker installations-This will include adding some distance indicators to the top of the irrigation heads. The new equipment cleaning areas will be going live very shortly-Thank you for the patience as we enhance these members’ areas.
The Social Diary for September-December 2019
September 18th-Sigma Golf Day-Members Shotgun 0730) Ladies Day Priority
September 20th-September Men’s Invitational
October 4th- Captains Perpetual Trophy
October 25th-Club Social Night-Irish Band-The Mighty’s
October 27th-Hertfordhire Girls County Match
October 31st - Halloween
And finally, it is with mixed emotions that I announce that September 28th, 2019 will be my last day at Batchworth Park Golf Club. I have thoroughly enjoyed leading the club and being part of the group. One of the most rewarding experiences has been the opportunity to develop the very talented team of professionals and staff members, as well as providing some enhancements to the members’ experiences. I have been touched by the warmness of the entire membership-You have an amazing club! Along the way, I have learned many new skills, experienced some wonderful social occasions, and made a few birdies! The recruitment process for my replacement is underway and you will all be kept updated with progress as it happens. Enjoy the future of this lovely club, and I look forward to being able to come back for the occasional round of golf!

Tee Time Reservations Process

Golf Reservations-Saturday Tee Bookings Process

We have just concluded a review and consultation of tee time reservations, member & guest registration, course access and particularly weekend operations focusing on Saturday and Sunday member golf reservations. After a review of the tee time booking process that is currently in operation and most importantly, listening to member feedback, the following “trial” of a new booking process will commence on August 27th, for bookings on Saturday 31st August.

The objective of this system is to improve Saturday morning member service, eliminate golf shop disruption to the busiest morning of the club and to enhance a fair and equitable tee time booking system for the members. As a reminder, all golfers are required to check in to the golf shop prior to the commencement of play.

Proposed Trial “New” Saturday tee time process:
Saturday bookings will open at 11:00am on the Tuesday of that week, i.e. Tuesday 27th for bookings on Saturday 31st. Tee times can be made in person or by phone using the same rotation process as is currently used on Saturday morning’s. A strict tee time booking rotation is in place: Tee times bookings commence at 1100am

1. 1100am Tuesday morning bookings open
2. This rotation method continues as long as members at the counter and the phone is ringing
3. Date for this trial to commence is Tuesday 27th August, for bookings on Saturday 31st August.
4. Please be patient as we adjust our processes to offer better membership customer service

Thank you for the patience as we try to improve our member service!

August Membership Update

On behalf of the entire team at the club, we hope that you are all having a wonderful August!

The annual greens aerification is now completed, thank you very much for all the wonderful patience while we delivered this important project. The team are currently evaluating some additional course improvement projects, so please do not be alarmed if you see minor changes in the cutting patterns-all in the name of providing a better product and course for our membership.

Stanley West Update: Well done to David Lewis and the Rabbits team who have played themselves into the finals of the Stanley West Trophy-Great job and looking forward to following the team at the final at Sudbury Golf Club as they face Pinner Hill Golf Club, who overcame North Middlesex Golf Club in the semi-final hosted at Batchworth Park Golf Club-The course and culinary team did a wonderful job hosting this event!! Sept 27th-Super Rabbits & Lunch

Thank you for all the wonderful feedback on the efforts of all the BPGC team, especially regarding the golf course and quality of our greens. Sadly, all the wonderful rain I was promised by my family for moving back home to the UK has yet to materialise and we are very disappointed! Our entire family bought wellington boots-they still have the labels on them! Doug and his team are doing everything possible, with the limitations of the existing "systems" for irrigation. The additional challenges posed by the dry weather has been the impact of the drying winds that subsequently increase the evaporation rate of any water applied. This challenge is being dealt with as one of the highest priorities on the course, and we are delighted the greens are still superb!

If you have any questions, please feel free to drop into the club to see me!

Membership Update

Good morning everyone
Boiler Installation-Installation date is Wednesday 22nd. Hand sanitizers are available.

A note from the Lady Captain-Ed Partridge:
I have some very exciting news to report! Yesterday Tania Corbett played at Saffron Walden Golf Club in the England Golf Medal regional final. I am delighted to report that she came 7th out of 80 competitors and, as she was in the top 10, has qualified to play in the final at England Golf Week which will be held on 15th August at Woodhall Spa & Golf Club. The course was long (over 5700 yards, par 72) so it definitely favoured long hitters. Tania played exceptionally well scoring a net 78, the SSS was 75 and the winning score was net 75. She hit long drive after long drive against some strong easterly winds and her nerve never seemed to falter! It was a wonderful day and she was a great representative for Batchworth Park Ladies.
Well done Tania!!

Ed Partridge-Lady Captain
A note from The Captain-Andy Jones
Good morning everyone! As you are aware, I have been "blogging" about the social activities at the club, member competitions and the work of the Committee at our club. If you know a member that doesn't get the Captain's emails and would like to then please have them email me, I will send them a direct link to sign up. My email is chrisgar@ntlworld.com

A Note from our Director of Instruction Mark Tompkins:
Two Top Tips:
1. Dry conditions- Calculate the yardage, adjust the yardage to take into consideration the conditions.take less club and visualize a landing areas short of the intended target allowing for bounce and release. In most cases, try to consider the line and roll like a putt, this will help with the outcome of the shot, and more often than not will help you avoid the dreaded "short side".
2. Playing into the wind-Do not try to hit the ball too hard-this keeps the spin rate of the ball down. It is also important to make sure you complete the turn in the back swing and swing nice and slow!

A new boiler has been sourced, and we are just waiting on the final delivery and installation details to be confirmed. I will update all the membership ASAP on any changes.

Good News Bad News-Urgent Member Notice

Good morning everyone.

The Good News:

I am pleased to announce that our own Ed Green has successfully qualified for the prestigious "Brabazon Trophy" 2019 to be played at Alwoodley in Leeds on May 30th, 2019. Ed shot a 71 at Hindhead GC in Hampshire, and qualified 15th out of 132 players, in very challenging conditions. I am sure that you will join the leadership team of the club in wishing Ed "the best of luck" as he continues his competitive golf journey this summer. We will keep you updated with his performance at this event and others!

Now the bad news:

Last evening at 5:30 our clubhouse was dealt a sever blow with the complete loss of hot water via a breakdown of the main hot water boiler. At the time of writing this notice, engineers are on site investigating the problem, cause and solution. We are unsure of the length of time we will be without hot water, but I can assure you we are working as quickly as possible to address this issue. Our sincere apologies on this matter and we hope that this inconvenience is very short lived. Normal kitchen operations are being handled, gas supply to the building is normal and all kitchen services are operating well. I will provide regular updates on the status of this "Hot Water" issue.

And finally, the great news!:
Most of you are aware that we have been without Paul Baker (our Executive Chef) for two weeks, through injury. I am very pleased to announce that as of Today, Paul is "back on the pans" and ready to provide our wonderful senior members with a gorgeous lunch! Paul would like to thank everyone for the cards, well wishes and thoughts but is thrilled to be back in his kitchen!

I would like to thank Hollee and the entire catering team, who have done a wonderful job in his absence, and have earned a much needed break this weekend!

Kind Regards

Weekly Update

Good Morning everyone! I hope you are all looking forward to a wonderful week of fabulous weather for golf. Who would have thought that we would be monitoring for rain this early in April.

A few updates for all members:

The St. Georges Day Scramble & Lunch (April 23rd) is almost sold out and at the time of this email we only had 4 spaces available, so if you are interested please book in!

On the Golf Course
Doug and his team are hard at work preparing for the spring & summer, and have just completed the "over seeding" project and the top dressing project, 50 tons of sand put on the course over the last five weeks. The new seed germination will happen soon, and we are already watering approaches, tees and greens to help create wonderful surfaces to play on. Doug and his team would really appreciate some help with presenting the golf course by requesting that all golfers repair ball marks (plus an additional one) and to rake bunkers with care when finished.

Security Barrier-Members will notice that the security barrier is down, today, a car hit the barrier causing some permanent damage. Engineers have been alerted and are on route to investigate the damage. This barrier will remain out of operation for a short period of time.

Clubhouse-Many members have been asking about the project underway at the front of the clubhouse (locker room end). We have started a project to decorate the building by removing the IVY from the woodwork, power washing the boards, replacing the rotten wood. We are at the final stage of preparing it for re-painting.

On behalf of all the team, enjoy the holiday weekend and Happy Golfing!

Best!

Anthony

On behalf of all the team, enjoy the holiday weekend and Happy Golfing!

Best!
